Voluntary Blood Donation & Awareness Campaign

Blood Bank, Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Raichur
As per the directives of the following authorities;
- Instructions from DAPCU & DHO in the virtual meeting held on 7th Sept 2022.
- Letter from DAPCU, Raichur – Ref No. DAPCU/RCR/ 32/ 2022-23 dated 13/09/2022.
- Letter from DME, Bengaluru- Ref No. DME/PS/103/2022-23 dated 14/09/2022.
Voluntary blood donation and awareness campaign was organized by Blood Bank, NMCH & RC, Raichur from 17-09-2022 – 01-10-2022 as a part of “Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav” a Nationwide Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign organized by Govt. of India, which was a special drive of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
In view of this, under the able guidance and support from Shri. S.R. Reddy Sir, Honorable Chairman, NET, the Blood Bank, NMCH & RC conducted the following activities:

A notification of the above mentioned blood donation and awareness campaign was given to all the Heads of Navodaya group of Institutions to encourage faculties, students and other staff to volunteer and register for the same.
Voluntary Blood Donation camp- 17-09-2022
On 17-09-2022, a voluntary blood donation camp was conducted in the Blood Bank, NMCH & RC. The camp was motivated and attended by Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust, Dr. B. Vijaychandra, Principal, NMC, Dr. A.S. Aanand, Vice Principal, Prof & HOD Department of Pathology, NMC, Dr. PSK Patel, Medical Superintendent, NMCH&RC, Dr. Mallikarjun Reddy, CEO, NMCH&RC, Dr.N.Pendlikal, RMO and Dr. Narayanappa, ARMO. The registrations of the voluntary donors were done on E-Raktkosha portal. Students from Medical, Dental, Physiotherapy, Nursing and B.Ed colleges registered for Voluntary blood donation and among them 29 students donated blood on this occasion. All of them were given certificate of appreciation for this noble gesture.
Voluntary Blood Donation Awareness & Registration camp- Raichur University

Voluntary Blood Donation Awareness & Registration camp was organized under the guidance of Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust, at Raichur University. Dr. B. Vijaychandra, Principal, NMC, Raichur, and Dr. Anand A. S., Professor and HOD, Department of Pathology, NMC, Raichur gave immense support and help for all the arrangement required for the conduction of the camp.
The camp started after a brief inaugural ceremony at Auditorium, Raichur University. The event was presided by Prof. Ereswamy, Registrar, Raichur University and Prof C.S. Parvati, Prof P. Bhaskar, Prof. Nisruth Fathim, Dr. A.S. Biradar along with Dr. Madhavi Kulkarni, Medical Officer Blood bank, NMCH&RC were the other dignitaries on the dias. The inaugural ceremony was also attended by faculties and students of various departments of the University.
Dr. Nidhi, Intern from Navodaya Medical College highlighted the importance of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors, for their life-saving “Gift of Blood” and created awareness for the need of regular blood donations, to ensure that all individuals and communities at large have access to affordable and timely supplies of safe and quality-assured blood and blood products. Other Interns from NMC, Dr. Hemanthraj, Dr. Shashank, Dr.Mallikarjun Biradar and Dr. Karthik Reddy, discussed and demonstrated various other aspects of Blood grouping and blood donation to the members assembled.
After the awareness program, Blood grouping of many participants was done. Mr. Narayan and Mr. Dinesh, Technicians from Blood Bank NMCH&RC along with the Paramedical interns, helped in Registration and Blood grouping. The participants were given Blood group cards and names of 102 Voluntary Donors,which included students and staff of Raichur University were registered in our Blood Bank records, for voluntary blood donation in future. Gangadhar swamy, MSW, co-ordinated in making all the necessary arrangements in the University campus. The conduction of the entire camp was highly appreciated by the authorities and deemed to be a resounding success.
Awareness Campaign for blood donation & Blood Grouping – Devenpalli Village

In co-ordination with Dr. Geeta lakshmi, Prof & HOD Dept. of CommunityMedicine, an Awareness Campaign for Blood Donation & Blood Grouping camp was planned in Devanpalli village on 30th September. As suggested by Dr. Geeta lakshmi, this was clubbed with the preplanned ‘World Heart Day’ program, scheduled on the same day. Accordingly, all the community health workers and MSW made necessary arrangements for the camp on 30-9-2022. A team of members comprising of Interns, Technicians and MSW visited Devanpalli village, but as there were torrential rains and water logging at the venue, both the events couldn’t be exercised.
National Voluntary Blood Donation Day celebration- 01-10-2022
On 1st October, National Voluntary Blood Donation Day was celebrated in the Blood Bank which was attended and graced by Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust, Dr. A.S. Aanand, Officiating Principal, Prof & HOD Dept. of Pathology, NMC, Dr. PSK Patel, Medical Superintendent, NMCH&RC, Dr. Pendlikal, RMO and Dr. Narayan, ARMO, Dr. Madhavi Kulkarni, Medical Officer Blood bank, NMCH&RC, Faculties of Dept. of Pathology, Mr. Krishna, ANS, Mrs. Kalakarana along with other Nursing staff Dr. Madhavi Kulkarni, welcomed the gathering and gave a brief note on all the various activities conducted during the campaign from 17-09-2022 – 01-10-2022 and also told the importance of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day celebration.
Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, NET, highlighted the need of more Voluntary Blood Donation awareness programs and suggested to conduct such camps in several other institutions, time and again in and around Raichur. Dr. A.S. Aanand, Officiating Principal, Prof & HOD Dept of Pathology, NMC thanked Honorable Chairman, Shri. S.R. Reddy Sir, Registrar, Dr. T. Srinivas Sir, Principal Dr. B. Vijaychandra Sir and all the assembled dignitaries for their support and co-operation and also discussed regarding the utilization of Apheresis facility in the Blood Bank by the clinicians. On this eve, Mrs. Kalakarana, senior Nursing staff, along with many of her colleagues donated blood totalling to a collection of 10 units of blood at Blood Bank NMCH&RC.
On the eve of this National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, there was a “Jatha” conducted by DHO and DAPCU, Raichur at 9.30am which started from DC office to DHO office. Our Blood bank technicians Mr. Narayan and Mr. Dinesh participated in this event.
At DHO office, a function in this regard was organized by office of the DHO and DAPCU, where Mr. Budan Gowda, a regular donor of Blood Bank NMCH&RC (who has donated blood 25 times), was felicitated by concerned authorities for his invaluable service to mankind. Officials of both DHO &DAPCU appreciated all the blood banks of Raichur for their involvement and active participation in this G.O.I. initiated Nationwide Voluntary Blood Donation and Awareness Campaign, in the past 2 weeks.
