Department of anaesthesiology and critical care, Navodaya Medical College, Raichur conducted a series of events on the eve of world anaesthesia day throughout the month of October.

Marking the beginning of the event, the Guest lecture was conducted on “Fitness of surgery and role of physician in pre operative evaluation” Dr Basavana Goudra clinical associate professor of anaesthesiology and critical care medicine, Perelman school of Medicine, Department of Anaesthesia, Hospital of the University Pennsylvania Philadelphia USA, was the chief and guest speaker he enlightened on the importance of pre operative evaluation and maintenance of in-depth patient’s records. The event was presided by Dr B Devanand Dean and Principal NMC. Other dignitaries were Dr T Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust Raichur, Dr Arun Kumar Nayak, Medical Superintendent, Dr AS Anand, vice-principal, Dr Balaraju TC, Prof & HOD, dept of anaesthesiology, other faculties and students from various departments were present at the event.

On 11th of the October 2023, Public awareness Programme in view of Basic Life Lupport [BLS] training was conducted at RAICHEM industries wadloor, Raichur. The programme was delt under the guidance of Dr Ramesh Babu, Director of Skill Lab. Dr Mohan and Dr Charulatha conducted the demonstration. Dr Mallikarjun Reddy, CEO of the hospital helped in organizing the event. The beneficiaries for the programme were 60 -80 members who worked at Raichem industrial growth centre. The programme enlightened on the Basic Life Support, steps to be followed during the times of emergencies until the help from trained professionals is available.

On 12th of October 2023, the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Life skill demonstration and Basic Life Support training was held at skill lab, NMC Raichur for paramedical and nursing students. The training was headed by Dr Ramesh Babu. Dr Geetha SH, Dr Vishwanath and other Post Graduates students demonstrated the CPR on the Mannequin and an overview of scene safety, circulation, airway and breathing and other related topics were briefed to the students.

On 13th October 2023, CPR, Life Skill Demonstration and BLS was held in front of the casualty in the hospital for the visitors and the common public. Awareness of the public population in times of panic situation were highlighted and the basic steps to be followed during the times of emergencies were demonstrated.

On the Occasion of World Anaesthesia day which is celebrated on 16th of October in memory of WTG Morton, who is considered as the father of modern anaesthesia. Dr. Geetha SH, Dr. Charulatha and Dr. Sahana conducted a Quiz for Post Graduates of various departments at AV hall and Digital library. Active participation from all the departments was noted. Winners being the students of from the Departments of Medicine and runners up were the students from the Department of Surgery. Prices were handed over to the winners by Dr. T Srinivas, Registrar, NET, Raichur.
