A CME/Workshop Titled “INCULCATING KNOWLEDGE REGARDING RATIONAL PRESCRIPTION, ADR AND PATIENT SAFETY” was organized by Department of Pharmacology, Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Raichur, On Saturday 07th October 2023.
The inaugural function was Presided by Dr. B. Devanand, Dean/Principal, NMCH&RC Raichur, Chief Guest for the event was Dr. P. Vijay Kumar, Director, IP&SA, Navodaya Education Trust, Raichur and Dr. Arun K.N, Medical Superintendent, NMCH&RC, Raichur, Dr. Mallikarjun Reddy CEO, NMCH&RC, Raichur were the Guests of Honour. Dr. Venkatesh M. Patil, Program Director VIGILIA-2023/ Professor & Head, Department of Pharmacology, NMCH&RC, Raichur and Dr. MD Arshad, KMC Observer/ Professor & Head, Department of Pharmacology, RIMS, Raichur were among the other dignitaries on the dias.
Dr. Venkatesh M. Patil, welcomed the gathering and briefed regarding VIGILIA-2023 A CME/ Workshop, Dr. Prabhakar Patil, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, NMCH&RC introduced Resource Persons Dr. Umakanth Patil, Professor & Head Dept. of Pharmacology, Basaveshwara Medical College, Chitradurga, Dr. Santosh N. Kugali Global, Clinical Research Physician, Associate Medical Advisor. ELI LILLY Services India Pvt. Ltd. Bengaluru and Dr. T. Shivaraj Gouda Professor & Head, Dept. of Pharmacology, NET Pharmacy College, Raichur. Dr. Neeta T.G Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, NMCH&RC, proposed the vote of thanks.
The theme for the CME/Workshop was “EMERGING SAFETY SCIENCES”, According to WHO, Pharmacovigilance is also known as “PATIENT/DRUG SAFETY.” The Resource Persons highlighted about the science and activities relating to detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse effects or any other drug related problems. They reiterated the aim and scope of pharmacovigilance, which broadly includes multiple components such as medication errors, counterfeit and unauthorized medicines, lack of efficacy, drug interactions and irrational prescriptions.“VIGILIA-2023” as benefited Undergraduates, Postgraduates, Staff at large in Identification, Assessment, Reporting of any given ADR for the betterment of mankind.
A Total number of 300+ delegates registered from Navodaya group of Institutions and other parts of Kalyana Karnataka region. The registered delegates who attended“VIGILIA-2023” were awarded Two credit points by Karnataka Medical Council, Bengaluru. The conduction of the entire CME/Workshop was highly appreciated by the authorities and deemed to be a resounding success.
